Issue Notice:
- In the hottest month of Thailand, people are looking forward to joining traditional festival, Songkran, which becomes the national culture. April 13th of every year marks traditional Thai's New Year prior to changing to January 1st in 1940. The important activities include sprinkling water onto a Buddha image and monks, forming sand Pagoda to contribute to Buddhism, pouring water on the hands of revered elders and asking for blessing, and splashing water to reduce the heat of summer and have fun together. The latter becomes the well-known and unique activity worldwide. These four activities will be illustrated on the first Songkran Festival stamp set which will be issued from this year onward. The original photos have been provided by Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) with the objective to promote Thainess year.
